Last December 23, 2009 at 6:15 in the evening, one of the last of the Simbang Gabi Novena Masses for 2009 was celebrated at St. Lambert Parish in Skokie by his Eminence Francis Cardinal George, OMI, Archbishop of Chicago.
Filipino Families of Skokie (FFOS) join in the Feast of the Santo Niño de Agosto in Illinois held last August 19, 2006 at the St. Genevieve Church in Chicago. A project initiated by Fr. Leoncio S. Santiago.

A protomartyr saint venerated by the Roman Catholic Church, Saint Lorenzo Ruiz (+1637), also know as San Lorenzo de Manila, is the first Filipino Saint. He was martyred during persecution of Japanese Christians under the Tokugawa Shogunate in the 17th century.

Devotion to Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima started with a 9-day novena at 6:45 pm and concluded with the Celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at 5:00pm, followed by a procession as the highlight of the occasion.
